This poem is based on the novel Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury
Darkness Has Fallen Upon Green Town
by Sam Lulky
At the sound of the train rumbling
on the tracks startled the boys. A calliope played
so well, it seemed like it played by itself. The rust
covered train looked like it had lived through a war.
The dark boy ran after it. The innocent boy
trailed behind him. The train carried a strange
emotion that no one knew. It stopped
in the dry autumn field.
The boys thought it was over. But a moss
covered balloon came, riding the wind.
The train came to life as men left the train.
Silence made the innocent boy flinch.
The dark boy moved in closer. A darkness
has fallen upon Green Town.
